Sadhana (SAHD-na) is a Sanskrit term meaning spiritual practice, quest or journey, and it is an opportunity to broaden and enrich your yoga experience.
Consolidate and deepen your experience in the postures while working to evolve your sadhana through daily practice. Experience the effects and benefits of integrating a daily yoga practice which deeply conditions the body and mind.
Guided Sadhana is conducted largely in silence and very little instruction is offered so that there is an opportunity to tune into the more subtle aspects of your yoga practice. The postural progression of the sadhana consists of practices that vary in focus and inensity, yet which follows a format that is cumulatively developmental. Sadhana is ideal for inspiring and implementing a daily yoga practice, for use as a preparation for a seasonal cleanse, and to inspire confidence in one’s own personal yoga practice.
Sadhana Guidelines:
Arrival.
Try to arrive at least 10 minutes before the practice begins. As you enter the building, start the meditative process by beginning to centre yourself. Once inside, refrain from speech and move mindfully as you make your way into the studio space. Set down your mat and gather any other items you may need for your practice. Find a comfortable seated position and continue to centre.
The Practice.
Work in the postures with whichever supports you may require and remember that you can release the postures at any time. Take this opportunity to explore the postures while gently challenging yourself. You may also bring a journal to record brief notes between postures. The practice will open with a guided meditation and a mantra. The postures will be called out and demonstrated from the front of the room.
Departing the Studio.
After the practice, maintain mindfulness in your movements as you return your equipment and collect your belongings. You may take a moment to record brief notes if you’ve brought your journal. Continue to refrain from speech and maintain full alertness to your movements as you make your way out of the building.
