Special Topics Series - Teaching Yoga to Beginners

Welcome.jpgSpecial Topics Series
Teaching Yoga to Beginners
May 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 1-3:30pm
$100

This 5-week series guides new and experienced Yoga Teachers though the challenging task of successfully introducing yoga fundamentals to beginning students. Many teachers are unsure of what is essential at the introductory level and what should be omitted. This series follows the 4-week introductory series that Raenel has been successfully teaching for ten years, and which has helped her students grasp the fundamental physical aspects of yoga while gently inspiring and introducing more subtle aspects of the practice. This series is ideal for teachers who currently offer introductory classes or who plan to add them to their schedule in the future.

The week to week schedule is as follows:

Week 1 - Sequencing Principles

Week 2 - Introducing Yoga

Week 3 - Elaboration

Week 4 - Building Intensity

Week 5 - Consolidation

These classes involve mainly asana practice with a short lecture/question period incorporated into the end of class. Organic herbal tea is provided.

Continuing Education for Yoga Teachers

meditations2.jpeg(Advanced Level 3-4)
Fridays 1-3:30pm

Integrate beautifully sequenced asana classes into your weekly routine!

These weekly asana classes are for yoga teachers who wish to expand their teaching skills and repertoire while engaging in a practice that is specifically oriented to yoga teachers. Whether you have been teaching for many years or have just begun, these classes offer a range of information relevant to any yoga teacher. These classes are two and a half hours in length and are characterized by deep postural investigation while integrating philosophy, pranayama, adjustments, modifications, sequencing principles, and therapeutics.

Individual classes present whole and integrated themes and yet are collectively developmental.  These classes may be attended on a drop-in basis, yet overall themes span over a series of five weeks. Periodically, and according to demand, a Special Topic Series will take place over 5-weeks. Special Topics Series involve a component of lecture and will therefore require pre-registration for the full 5 weeks.

If you are accumulating Continuing Education units as required by your certification association, written and descriptive confirmation of your participation in these classes is available.

Drop-In Rate : $25

2008-2009 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program

500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program Overview
September 2008 - June 2009

Designed for current and aspiring Yoga teachers, and serious students who wish to deepen their practice, this certificate program integrates the philosophical, theoretical and practical studies of traditional Hatha yoga into a rich and comprehensive whole. The course curriculum is designed to deepen postural proficiency, introduce Ayurvedic principles, and discuss traditional yogic philosophies in a contemporary context. The program teaches solid teaching skills and methods, postural analysis, sequencing principles, along with pre-natal, therapeutic and restorative applications.

The course curriculum meets and exceeds the 500-Hour training standards set out by the Yoga Alliance and is distributed within three modules. All three modules seamlessly integrate with one another in a logical progression forming a complete and comprehensive training program. All three modules plus the practicum hours must be completed to qualify for graduation from the program. This is an intensive program requiring great commitment to study and practice.
